Description of Center
The Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation – Center for College and University Team Physicians is dedicated to improving conditions affecting the ability of the team physician to delivery appropriate medical care to the student-athlete.  The center would address issues such as medical malpractice, supervision of staff, appropriate practice guidelines, job descriptions, credentials, hours and compensation of physicians.  The center would establish a Team Physician Advisory Board across all levels of competition to address these specific issues as well as the issues within the other centers of the Collegiate Sports Medicine Foundation.  The Center for College and University Team Physicians would also assist institutions with the process of hiring physicians including credentials, salaries, job descriptions, liability, supervision, services, and billing processes.  Although many universities focus on the orthopedic surgeon in the athletic arena, the role of the primary care physician is an ever increasing importance to the overall health care of the student-athlete.  The center is also aimed at ancillary physicians and their role in the delivery of care and services to the student-athlete. Such physicians included but not limited to: Dermatologist, Opthalamogist, Optometerist, Chiropractors, Dentist, Neurologist, ENTs, Cardiologist, and various other specialist.
